Murmuration Theatre Company

Welcome!

Murmuration Theatre Company is an independent not-for-profit arts collective based out of Brooklyn, dedicated to fostering the development of early-career NYC artists. We're led by some pretty rad women and queer folks, and we like to work on projects that feel contemporary, inventive, and that ask interesting questions.

How do we operate? A typical year includes one full length production and a showcase of one-act plays from emerging playwrights, as well as a handful of staged readings and/or workshops for plays-in-development.

Plus, we're at Pete's Candy Store on the fourth Monday of each month for the 'Out of the Wings' Scripted Scenes Open Mic. We'd love to see you there!

Thanks for checking us out!

A group of friends escape to the Berkshires for a week-long getaway, almost a year after one of their member's untimely passing. A play about bugs, strangers in the woods, and the unrelenting grasp of guilt.

"Very welcoming environment and championing of creativity...I loved the conversations that were had and the trust in the actors to do the thing. I never felt like I was being coached, but rather being collaborated with."

"Loved the warmth in the rehearsal room—It was a pleasure to work with every member of the cast and crew!"

"It was an amazing piece, and everyone involved was talented, respectful, and wonderful to work with!"

"This was an absolute dream of a process... everyone was genuine and kind and ready to work. It's unfortunately rare in this industry to be able to cultivate such a positive space, but this process was nothing short of wonderful through and through."

"I would sit at work waiting for the moment I got to be in the room with this cast and team—I haven’t felt that in a little while. It was such a privilege. I’ve been singing the highest praises about Murmuration since."

Something has gone horribly wrong. We know only that there has been fear and travel and loneliness and death and now winter. But it is enough to understand that Emily and Grafton, a young couple temporarily stranded in a cabin in the mountains, are in the process of being distilled down to their barest selves.
